J. Butch is a minor character in Heavy Rain. He is a member of the City's police force.

Butch makes his first speaking appearance if Norman Jayden tries to resist using Triptocaine at the police station. When Jayden steps out of his office, Butch notices that he looks unwell and frantic and asks him if everything is alright. Butch makes a second speaking appearance if Shaun Mars survives and Ethan Mars is in police custody at the end of the game (which will happen if he gets arrested in "On the Loose" after getting arrested in "Fugitive" and/or with Jayden dead), during which he unlocks Ethan's holding cell at the police station and tersely tells him that he's free to go.

• Butch's name is never used in the game, but it appears on the left breast pocket of his uniform.
