Concept art of the mall
The mall is a location in the city in which Heavy Rain takes place. It is a large shopping mall in which the second chapter of the game unfolds.
Sometime in March 2009, the Mars family visits the mall and Grace leaves Jason with Ethan while she and Shaun go to buy shoes. Jason wanders away from his father, who finds him and buys him a red balloon from a clown. However, Jason wanders away again, and a tragedy that strikes in front of the mall sets the game's storyline in motion.

- "A Drop of Water" explicitly states that the Mars residence isn't located in the City, which suggests that the mall may not be located there either. Scott Shelby, however, is known to be a longtime resident of the City, so his presence at the mall suggests that it's at least reasonably close to his home.
