  • While working on the transcript for "Jayden Blues," I noticed that the TV in the hotel room appears to display the hotel's name (although it is blurry due to Norman going through withdrawal.) The name displayed is "Westfield Resort". Can I rename the hotel page to this?

      Loading editor
    • I took care of it, and also fixed a lot of the redirects so that they point to the new page instead of "hotel." I'll let you decide what to do with the rest (i.e. whether to replace all other occurrences of "hotel" with "Westfield Resort," revise the links and leave the wording unchanged, or just leave the links pointing to the redirect page).

  • I'm about to start working on the transcript of Heavy Rain Chronicles - Episode One: The Taxidermist, and I was wondering if I should use that whole title as the page title or just title it The Taxidermist/Transcript and instead of "the [number] chapter of Heavy Rain" put something like "the first episode of the Heavy Rain Chronicles."

  • If you get Ethan arrested twice while Norman is still alive, he speaks to him briefly after being thrown into a holding cell. The dialogue is also the same if Ethan is arrested while Norman died beforehand. Since the scene is immediately after "On the Loose" but getting him arrested there effectively replaces a variant of "Under Arrest" which would take up that timeframe if Ethan is only arrested once in that chapter, which of the two transcripts should the dialogue go under?

    • Awesome possum! I'll start adding them to articles.

    • Okay, I've added interwiki links to all the articles on our wiki that have corresponding Italian, Russian, and Spanish wiki articles. There are several articles on the German wiki (mostly about chapters) we haven't linked to yet, but I'll take care of that another time. I'm also going to leave this item on the To-Do List for the time being - the Italian and Spanish wikis haven't been updated in months, but there's been some activity on the German wiki and a lot of activity on the Russian wiki in the last couple of weeks, so we should check on them occasionally and see if they have any new articles to which we can link.

  • I'm trying to save the transcript I just finished for "The Doc," but every time I try to, a message pops up that says that the spam filter was triggered. This is the first time it's happened, and I'm not sure why.

    What should I do?

      Loading editor
    • Update: apparently, the spam filter was triggered by a dialogue I had typed, the one where Madison says "I was told that you could get Betropen without a p*******" Once I removed the last three words, the transcript wasn't activating the spam filter. How odd. (The removed word is prescription.)

        Loading editor
    • It seems that the phrase itself is registered as inappropriate content, because it won't even let me say it in a message.

        Loading editor
    • I think Fandom does that in order to protect against spammers/bots, which often create pages or threads advertising cheap and easy ways to get medication, porn, DVDs, or name-brand goods. While it does cut down on wiki spam, it can also result in false positives on occasion. If you're interested in changing the settings, I'd go to Fandom Community Central and search either here or here for help.

While you're there, you might also ask about enabling interwiki linking to foreign-language Heavy Rain Wikis - we can currently link to the German and Italian wikis, but we can't link to the Spanish or Russian ones (and Exoshadom has added a lot of pages to the Russian Heavy Rain Wiki recently). Linking to the corresponding pages on these wikis would be a good way to increase traffic and expand our reach.

  • If looking at the victims folder in ARI during “Jayden Blues,” it lists dates for the victims’ kidnappings. The earliest one appears to be September 29, 2009. I’ll double check for this, but if this is true and is the earliest known date of a victim being kidnapped, can I make changes to the Timeline page to establish this?

      Loading editor
    • Absolutely! The more accurate and specific information we can have on that page and this wiki, the better.

        Loading editor
    • The date is actually September 26, 2009, but it is the earliest date of a victim being kidnapped. I'll add it to the timeline.

  • I think Ethan getting shot in the hand/shoulder or having his finger shot off is actually dependent on which trials Ethan failed, not how many. While playing the game for the first time, I was expecting to get the outcome where Ethan is shot in the shoulder, because I had failed the second trial but completed the first and third. Instead, I got the outcome where Ethan wasn't shot at all. (I also got caught after this and had to start the chapter over at the save point when Ethan and Madison are in the subway station, so I don't think it was a matter of how fast or slow I was moving to escape.) While playing again today to test the other outcomes, this time I failed the third trial and completed the first two, and I got the outcome where Ethan is shot in the shoulder. The same number of trials were completed (two) and failed (one) both times, so I don't think the numbers are what cause the different outcomes.

    • Sounds to me like we've solved this mystery, Scooby-Doo. I'll let you decide if you want to rewrite the relevant bullet points or leave them as they are.

        Loading editor
    • I’ll leave the bullet point I rewrote for “Fugitive” as it is now, and rewrite the others on any other pages to make it clear that the scenarios where Ethan is shot anywhere other than his shoulder are inaccurate. Once that’s done we can cross off that item from the To-Do List. If anyone tries to correct the changes without proof, we can just direct them to this thread.

  • There is a separate Walkthroughs article and a Walkthroughs category page. Does the Walkthroughs article need to stay, or is it no longer necessary to have it because of the category page? It seems kind of redundant since both have the same walkthrough pages and trophy guides on them.

      Loading editor
    • That's a good question! The only reason I'd hesitate to delete the Walkthroughs article is because it includes an External Links section that links to other sites readers of this wiki might be interested in. If our wiki's walkthroughs are detailed and informative enough that there's no need to link to other resources, then the article is counterproductive and there's no reason for it to remain - as you said, the category already serves a similar purpose.

I'm going to let you decide whether to keep or delete the article. If you choose to delete it, just be sure to look at "What links here" (under "My Tools" on the taskbar on the bottom of the page) so you can find and delete the redirect pages as well.

  • I just started the transcript for On the Loose. Since the beginning portion of the chapter is different depending on if Madison is alive or not and I don't want to have to clarify a bunch of times which version something happens in, I'm planning to separate the two sections using sub-headings (like how I did for the transcript for The Old Warehouse) and then type the chase scene section with a note like (Both above outcomes converge at this point.) to show that the chase scene is the same with or without Madison. Would this be a good idea?

      Loading editor
    • Yes, I think that's the most efficient way to organize the transcript for this chapter. Full steam ahead!

  • I’ve finally gathered the time to start working on transcripts today, and I think I want to tackle The Old Warehouse’s transcript first because it’s pretty large (8 different scenarios means a lot of dialogue.) Does it matter if I organize the transcripts for each scenario in any particular way? My idea was to put them in an order kind of based on how the characters debut as that’s how they appear in the scenario where all characters are present. In this order, the transcripts would go something like this: Ethan alone, Norman alone, Madison alone, Ethan and Norman, Ethan and Madison, Norman and Madison, and the last one would be the one where all three arrive. I don’t want to put the scenario where no one arrives because there isn’t any dialogue. Also, for the outcome where Ethan is shot, since it happens regardless if he is alone and also if Madison fails to warn him if all three go to the warehouse but the dialogue is the same, do I need to put it twice for both scenarios or just put something referencing back to the Ethan alone scenario, like this: (If Madison fails to warn Ethan:) (Ethan exits the warehouse. From here, the scene plays out identically to the scenario where Ethan arrives alone, except Madison can be seen inside of a police car, watching in horror as Ethan is killed.)

    • For the sake of consistency, I support either presenting the transcripts for each scenario in the same order the walkthroughs for each scenario appear on the walkthrough page, or reorganizing the walkthrough page to follow your proposed order for the transcript page (individual characters in the order they're introduced, then pairs, then all three). It's not a big deal either way, but the uniformity will make it easier for readers to find the information they're seeking.

For the sake of simplicity, I think you can reference any events that are similar to ones you've described in other scenarios the way you do in your second example - there's no real sense in typing out identical information twice.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

        Loading editor
    • I’ll reorganize the walkthrough page, since I think it makes more sense that way to have the scenarios go in that order (the “no one” scenario would go before Ethan’s on the walkthrough page in that case, Ethan’s is just first on the transcript.) I won’t change any information on the sections unless I feel the need to add something, I’m just changing the order in which the sections on the walkthrough are listed.

        Loading editor
    • Sounds like a plan. It'll be necessary to make some wording changes to the walkthrough page, particularly to later sections that reference earlier sections.

        Loading editor
    • Ah, I forgot to do that. I'll change some things so some of the sections don't repeat themselves as they are in the new order.

  • Since most of the endings that have dialogue have transcripts on the wiki, would it be useful/a good idea to have transcripts for the chapters as well?

    • Can I add "Create detailed transcripts for all of the chapters in Heavy Rain" or something to that effect on the To-Do List? Since this is, as you've said, very time-consuming, I'd like if all the others who use this wiki know that this is something that's being worked on so that they can help by either creating transcripts themselves or adding missing bits of dialogue I may not have noticed when I created the initial transcript.

        Loading editor
    • That's an excellent idea - I just added it to the list. You'll definitely want people who have the time, energy, and knowledge you need to help you with this project.
